Great Place to Grow Up is a partnership movement that is one part of the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation’s strategic priorities for 2028. The programme, designed in partnership with local partners, creates a collective approach to giving children the best start in life. There are six priority areas that our research tells us create the conditions required to have a positive childhood: Health, Learning, Prosperity, Culture, Leisure and Nature.
The Heritage Foundation’s role in A Great Place to Grow Up is flexible and includes being a direct deliverer of services, a major funder of key projects, providing small community grants, building capacity with partners and creating an effective volunteering programme. We also provide leadership and a backbone within our priority areas, recognising that the success of A Great Place to Grow Up relies on the strength of the partnership, who provide crucial services locally.
Collectively, we understand the challenges that children, young people and families face, and are committed to developing interconnected pathways that create access to a range of targeted and universal services and opportunities.
