Settle: A Psychogeography Project
During Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation's year long 'Co-creating a Cultural Future' programme, artists Hannah Kelly and Chantelle Stephenson partnered with Fearnhill School's Head of Humanities to innovate new ways of delivering their KS3 Maps topic. Over the Autumn Term 2024, the teacher and artist partners collaborated on a series of lessons to support students to plot points on maps, engage in outdoor learning and demonstrate understanding of map elements and spatial relationships.
These 'maps' were created as a starting point to engage students in the topic practically, before being transformed into an artistic banner. In this instance, the students responded through the Arts with printmaking and textiles, however, this could also be the starting point for many other subjects across the curriculum.
