Tom Karen: Creations was a special exhibition held at the Museum at One Garden City in Summer 2022, celebrating the life and work of renowned designer Tom Karen (1926–2022). Known for iconic designs such as the Bond Bug, Reliant Scimitar GTE and the Raleigh Chopper, as well as imaginative toys like Marble Run, Karen’s legacy reflects a unique blend of creativity, innovation and play.
Building on this exhibition, these learning resources bring his work into the classroom and home, with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 activities focused on car design, engineering and creativity. Featuring design templates inspired by the Bond Bug and links to local history through Karen’s work at Ogle Design in Letchworth, they offer an engaging way for learners to explore design thinking and the story of an influential local figure.
