Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is delighted to announce the return of Play! Discover! Share! for summer 2026, alongside the expansion of the programme with Play! Discover! Share! Goes Wild, a free programme of creative outdoor activities designed to help children, young people and families connect with creativity, nature and each other.
Now in its third year, Play! Discover! Share! has grown into a flagship family programme, offering free and inclusive creative experiences for children and young people aged up to 15. The initiative supports the Heritage Foundation's ambition to make Letchworth a Great Place to Grow Up by providing accessible cultural opportunities, encouraging creativity, supporting wellbeing and helping to reduce barriers to participation during the school holidays.
This year's programme is inspired by the theme Story Makers, encouraging children and young people to use imagination, storytelling and creative expression to explore new ideas, build confidence and develop new skills. Across workshops, drop-in activities and outdoor experiences, families will be invited to create, perform, make, imagine and share stories in a range of exciting ways.
A key part of the programme's development has been listening to local children, young people and families. Activities have been shaped through consultation and community engagement to ensure the programme reflects local interests and provides opportunities that are welcoming, relevant and inclusive.
Running throughout August at Broadway Gallery, Play! Discover! Share! will feature a vibrant mix of artist-led workshops, creative sessions and free drop-in activities. Alongside the gallery-based programme, the new Play! Discover! Share! Goes Wild programme will take creativity outdoors, transforming Spring Road Spinney into an imaginative space for storytelling, nature-inspired crafts, performance and exploration. The outdoor programme also includes dedicated SEND-focused provision to help more families access and enjoy creative experiences in nature.
