Skateboarding has been a popular sport for decades. Yet it’s taken the adoption of skateboarding as an Olympic sport for attention to turn to the national infrastructure that makes it possible.
Skate parks and indoor skating spaces have grown in a haphazard way, often championed by, frequently run by and sometimes even funded by local enthusiasts. Is this good enough? What would it take to create facilities that give better access and opportunity to all skaters, and build skate communities across the UK?
