March 2024 – July 2025
Our Community Curators programme is at the heart of a new, more inclusive approach to collecting and storytelling.
We brought together a team of volunteer Community Curators from across Letchworth Garden City to help shape the future of the collection. Through interviews, object donations, and shared experiences, they are helping us address gaps and build a more representative archive.
This work marks a shift in how we approach heritage—moving away from being gatekeepers, and towards enabling people to tell their own stories and see themselves reflected in the museum.
“There’s a stronger sense of community here… Letchworth just doesn’t shout about it.”

Get involved
This work is ongoing, and we are still looking to hear from local residents.
We are particularly keen to connect with:
People from the Jackmans and Grange areas
Those who have moved to Letchworth in the last 50 years
Individuals with lived experience of LGBTQIA+ identities
People living with disabilities
If you’d like to share your story or contribute to the collection, please get in touch via response@letchworth.com.
